Fano Resonance in a Plasmonic Dolmen Nanostructure

Plasmonic metamaterials get their sharpest spectral features not from a single resonance but from interference between two of them. This simulator models the classic "dolmen" nanoantenna — a broad, strongly radiating bright dipole mode coupled to a narrow, nearly dark quadrupole mode — with the driven coupled-oscillator equations that govern real plasmonic Fano resonances. Tune the drive detuning, the bright–dark coupling strength, and the dark mode's damping to watch an asymmetric Fano lineshape and a sharp induced-transparency dip form in the live extinction spectrum, while the 3D antenna pulses with the resulting mode amplitudes and phase lag and near-field hot spots light up between the rods.
