Nanostructured antireflection and anti-soiling coatings are one of the quieter workhorses of next-generation solar nanotechnology: an engineered array of nanoscale pillars on the panel's cover glass can trap air beneath a water droplet, push its apparent contact angle toward the lotus-leaf regime, and let rain roll the dust off the surface instead of leaving it to bake into a soiling layer that cuts module output. This simulator builds a real nanopillar array, computes the Cassie–Baxter apparent contact angle and Furmidge roll-off angle from the pillar geometry you choose, and shows the self-cleaning threshold in action — tilt the panel past α_c and a rolling droplet sweeps loose dust particles off the array; tilt it below and the droplet just sits there.
