How it works

A web of substrate unwinds, passes under a slot-die coater that lays down a wet film set by the coating gap, then travels through a cure oven before an inline inspection station measures sheet resistance. Dwell time in the oven is set purely by geometry and speed:

dwell = oven_length / speed
cure_rate(T) = k0 · Q10^((T−100)/10)
cure = 1 − exp(−cure_rate(T) · dwell)
R_sheet ≈ R0 / (thickness_norm · cure) · noise

Web speed — raises throughput but shortens oven dwell time, so faster lines need hotter (or longer) ovens to fully cure the film.
Coating gap — sets wet film thickness; thicker coatings lower sheet resistance but cost more material and take longer to dry through.
Cure temperature — accelerates the cure reaction (Q10≈2 per 10 °C); under-cured film reads high, noisy resistance and fails spec.
The SPC chart plots each inspected sample against statistical control limits (dashed, from the rolling mean ± 3σ) and the hard specification limits (solid, the customer requirement) — the same distinction used to separate "the process drifted" from "the product failed" on a real production line.

This is the core scale-up trade-off in nanomanufacturing: pushing line speed for volume degrades quality unless the thermal budget is raised to match, and yield — not raw throughput — is what actually pays for the plant.
