Nanoelectrode Nerve Stimulation Simulator

Neurorehabilitation devices increasingly use grids of implanted nanoelectrodes to selectively re-excite damaged nerve pathways after stroke or spinal-cord injury. This simulator renders a 4×4 nanoelectrode array suspended over a bundle of nerve fibres and computes, in real time, the electric field each active contact produces as a point current source in tissue (E = I/4πσr²), summed by superposition at every fibre. Each fibre carries its own randomised activation threshold that additionally depends on pulse width through Lapicque's strength-duration law, so recruitment of the bundle grows smoothly as you raise the current, widen the pulse, add electrodes, or tighten the array spacing — the same physics that governs how much of a nerve a real neurostimulation implant reaches.
