Metal Hydride Nanoparticle Charging Kinetics

Metal hydride nanoparticles store hydrogen by reacting it at the particle surface and letting a hydride shell grow inward as hydrogen diffuses through the material already converted. This simulator renders that shrinking-core process in 3D: a metal core (grey) shrinks as a hydride shell (teal) thickens around it, exactly as predicted by the Ginstling–Brounshtein diffusion-controlled kinetics equation.
