Metal hydride nanoparticles store hydrogen by reacting it at the particle surface and letting a hydride shell grow inward as hydrogen diffuses through the material already converted. This simulator renders that shrinking-core process in 3D: a metal core (grey) shrinks as a hydride shell (teal) thickens around it, exactly as predicted by the Ginstling–Brounshtein diffusion-controlled kinetics equation. Choose a hydride material, drag the particle-radius and bed-temperature sliders, and watch how nanoscaling and catalysis — the two real strategies hydrogen-storage engineers use — can cut charging time from hours to seconds.
