Extraordinary Optical Transmission — 2D Nanohole Lattice

A periodic array of holes far smaller than the wavelength of light, punched through an opaque metal film, transmits dramatically more light than classical diffraction theory allows — at specific wavelengths set by the lattice. This 2D simulator computes that plasmonic transmission spectrum from a simplified Drude model of the metal and the surface-plasmon momentum-matching condition, renders the nanohole array as a pannable, zoomable top-down lattice whose holes glow in proportion to the transmission at your chosen probe wavelength, animates a cross-section photon stream punching through the film at the matching rate, and gives you live numeric readouts comparing the plasmon-enhanced transmission against the classical Bethe single-aperture limit.
