This 2D companion to the 3D Berkovich nanoindentation simulator renders the same real Nix-Gao strain-gradient plasticity model as a cross-section: a pyramidal tip sinking into a crystal, surrounded by a live-scaled cloud of geometrically necessary dislocations whose density follows ρ_GND = 3tan²θ/(2bh). Hardness climbs with the classic (H/H₀)² = 1 + h*/h Indentation Size Effect as the depth shrinks, exactly as in the original — but this build goes one step further and derives the indenter load P = H·A from the equivalent-cone contact area A = πa², plotting a full load-depth (P-h) curve the 3D version never shows. Drag or scroll on the cross-section to pan and zoom, sweep the depth automatically, or load a Copper, Tungsten or MgO preset to compare how differently each material's hardness rises as the indent gets shallower.
