Carbon Nanotube Yarn Muscle: Prosthetic Finger Actuator (2D)

This 2D companion to the 3D orbit-camera actuator sim models the same real electrothermal nanomaterial actuator — a twisted-and-coiled carbon-nanotube yarn muscle explored as a lightweight, gearless drive for prosthetic fingers — but replaces the orbitable 3D rig with a fixed side-view mechanism you can pan and zoom, paired with a live strip chart of yarn temperature, contraction strain and tendon force. Apply a drive voltage and watch Joule heating raise the yarn's temperature, untwisting and contracting the coil to pull a tendon that curls a three-phalanx finger; a grip-load slider reproduces the actuator's force–stroke trade-off, a cooling-airflow slider sets how quickly it relaxes, and a pulse-mode toggle lets you compare the fast electrical switching against the yarn's own much slower thermal time constant on the chart.
