High-voltage DC power cables lose energy — and eventually fail — not just to resistive heating, but to space charge: carriers injected from the conductor drift into the polymer insulation and distort the electric field far from its clean, geometric shape. Nanotech's answer is nanocomposite insulation, where MgO or Al₂O₃ nanofillers create deep trap states that immobilise injected charge close to the electrode instead of letting it wander deep into the bulk. This 2D companion solves the same cylindrical Poisson equation across the insulation layer in real time and renders it two ways at once: a polar cross-section disc and a draggable Cartesian radial profile, so you can watch the field enhancement factor stay near 1× with a heavily loaded nanocomposite — or climb dangerously with a plain, untreated polymer.
