Droplet (liquid, top-down)
Electrode — voltage ON
Electrode — voltage OFF
Click a droplet to select it, then click a neighboring electrode pad to move / split / merge.
A liquid droplet rests on a hydrophobic electrode grid with no channels, pumps or moving parts, viewed straight from above. Select it, then click an adjacent electrode: the applied voltage locally lowers the contact angle there via electrowetting, growing the footprint and dragging the droplet's contact line one grid cell at a time. Switch to Split mode to stretch and pinch a droplet into two, or Merge mode to coalesce two droplets into one — all through electrical control of surface wetting, the working principle behind programmable lab-on-a-chip devices.
