Treg IL-2 Sink: Cytokine-Deprivation Suppression

Regulatory T cells (Tregs) don't need to kill effector T cells to shut down an immune response — they can simply starve them. This simulation solves a real reaction-diffusion equation for interleukin-2 (IL-2) across a 3D tissue voxel grid, lets effector T cells (red) secrete IL-2 when activated and consume it to stay alive, and lets Tregs (blue) act as high-affinity CD25 sinks that out-compete them for the same cytokine pool via saturating Michaelis–Menten kinetics. Tune Treg number, CD25 avidity, antigen-driven secretion and tissue diffusion, and watch the free-IL-2 field and effector population settle into a new equilibrium — including outright cytokine-withdrawal apoptosis when Tregs win the competition.
