DNA Replication Fork
The double helix unzips at a replication fork: helicase splits the strands while two new complementary strands are built base by base. This models semi-conservative replication — each parent strand serves as a template, and DNA polymerase (the glowing tip spheres) synthesizes a new complementary strand as the fork travels down the molecule.
