This simulator models how a drug escapes a biodegradable polymer implant such as a PLGA microsphere or rod. Hundreds of drug particles are seeded through a translucent 3D matrix and undergo a Fickian random walk with a diffusion coefficient that is not fixed: as the polymer backbone hydrolyses over simulated days, its average molecular weight decays exponentially and the effective diffusivity ramps up, reproducing the biphasic burst-then-erosion release profile seen in real biodegradable depots. Adjust the intrinsic diffusion coefficient, the hydrolysis rate constant, the erosion–diffusivity coupling strength, and the drug loading, and watch the live cumulative-release curve build in real time.
