C. elegans Touch-Withdrawal Circuit — Oscilloscope & Signal-Flow View

This is the 2D counterpart of the 3D C. elegans touch-withdrawal simulation: the same nine leaky integrate-and-fire neurons, the same real synaptic wiring, and the same conduction delays and refractory periods — but instead of an orbiting 3D scene, the circuit is read the way an electrophysiologist actually reads a circuit: as scrolling voltage traces on an oscilloscope. A 9-channel strip chart plots every neuron's membrane potential against threshold in real time with spike ticks, a signal-flow diagram below it shows synaptic pulses traveling along excitatory and inhibitory connections as they fire, and a body-wave strip at the bottom turns the resulting backward/forward command imbalance into a traveling contraction wave, exactly mirroring how a real nematode reverses from a head touch or accelerates forward from a tail touch.
