Caspase Cascade & the Apoptotic Point of No Return (2D)

This 2D counterpart integrates the same real biochemical logic as its 3D twin, but on flat canvases so the underlying dynamics are easy to read: initiator caspase-9 cleaves procaspase-3 into active executioner caspase-3 through cooperative Hill-type kinetics, caspase-3 loops back to activate more caspase-9 in a positive-feedback amplifier, and XIAP continuously fights to neutralize every active caspase-3 molecule while SMAC/DIABLO blunts that defense. A five-variable ODE — procaspase-9, active caspase-9, procaspase-3, active caspase-3 and free XIAP — is integrated live with 4th-order Runge–Kutta, driving both a particle-cloud view of the cytoplasm and a live caspase-3-vs-time trace that shows real recovery below threshold or real runaway above it. A dedicated bifurcation panel sweeps the actual ODE forward and backward through signal strength to trace out the genuine hysteresis loop and locate the numerically-found commitment threshold — the molecular point of no return, computed rather than scripted.
