Scaffold-Guided Organ Regeneration

This simulator models the central engineering challenge of growing a bioartificial organ on a scaffold: tissue and blood vessels must advance together. A spherical lattice of scaffold pores starts seeded only at its base, where it contacts host vasculature. From there, cells proliferate outward while new vessels sprout and chase the oxygen-starved (hypoxic) tissue deeper inside the construct. Push proliferation ahead of angiogenesis and you get a dark, oxygen-starved necrotic core — exactly the failure mode that limits how large a tissue-engineered organ can be grown today. Tune the proliferation rate, angiogenesis rate, oxygen diffusion rate and hypoxia tolerance and watch live tissue coverage, vascularization and average oxygenation evolve in real time.
