DTI Fiber Tractography: Tracking White-Matter Pathways

Diffusion-tensor imaging turns the direction water diffuses inside each brain voxel into a map of white-matter fiber orientation. This simulator renders a synthetic diffusion-tensor field — ellipsoids stretched along each voxel's principal diffusion axis — over two crossing fiber bundles, then runs deterministic (FACT-style) tractography from seed points: stepping along the local tensor direction, flipping the sign-ambiguous eigenvector to stay consistent, and halting when fractional anisotropy drops or the tract bends too sharply. Adjustable FA and turning-angle thresholds show directly how a single-tensor model behaves at a fiber crossing, and clicking anywhere on the slice seeds a new streamline the way a radiologist would place an ROI in a clinical tractography workstation.
