Algor Mortis: Estimating Time of Death from Body Cooling

Algor mortis — the postmortem cooling of the body — is one of the oldest and still most-used tools in forensic pathology for bracketing time of death in the first day or so after death. This simulator renders a 3D body whose tissue temperature is driven by Henssge's double-exponential cooling model, the formula underlying the nomogram medical examiners use in the field. Adjust ambient temperature, body mass and an insulation (Q) factor to see the cooling constant B and the resulting curve change in real time, then take a simulated rectal-temperature reading and watch the same equation solved backward — via numerical bisection, exactly as real PMI-estimation tools do — to recover an estimated post-mortem interval you can compare against the true simulated elapsed time.
