Drug Delivery Systems Simulator

Controlled drug delivery uses an engineered carrier — here a polymer-shelled nanoparticle — to release its payload on a schedule the body's own dosing cannot achieve with a swallowed tablet. This simulator visualizes a nanocarrier circulating inside a blood vessel, releasing drug molecules through its shell by first-order (Fickian-diffusion-like) kinetics, while a live plasma-concentration chart tracks the resulting blood level against a therapeutic window and against a conventional instant-release tablet. Switch between a pH-sensitive shell (stable in normal blood, triggered by the acidic tumor microenvironment), a slow-diffusion shell (steady release regardless of pH) and a fast-release shell, and toggle the surrounding pH to see how shell chemistry and environment together determine whether a drug stays safely inside its effective range or spikes toward toxicity and clears too fast.
