New blood vessels reach a healing wound by chemotaxis: hypoxic tissue at the wound center secretes VEGF, and endothelial tip cells sprouting from the intact capillary margin sense that gradient and migrate toward it, branching as they go until the wound bed is perfused. This simulator renders that sprouting process in 3D and drives it with the actual biology behind diabetic impaired healing — chronic hyperglycemia keeps the oxygen-sensing PHD enzymes abnormally active, so HIF-1α is degraded even in hypoxic tissue, blunting VEGF output and vessel growth. Raise the glucose slider and watch sprouts slow, wander, and stall before reaching the center; enable PHD-inhibitor therapy to see the response rescued.
