This simulation explores the use of dance as a therapeutic tool through the lens of interpersonal movement synchrony — the rhythmic entrainment between patient and therapist that dance/movement therapists treat as a live signal of emotional attunement. Two 3D dancer avatars are driven by a coupled Kuramoto oscillator model: each has its own natural rhythm, and a tunable "mirroring" coupling pulls their movement phases toward alignment, just as a therapist's mirrored gestures do in a real session. Adjust the coupling strength, the mismatch between each mover's natural tempo, and background movement noise, then trigger a guided cue to see how a deliberate synchronizing prompt accelerates entrainment. Live readouts track the Kuramoto order parameter as a synchrony index, the instantaneous relative phase between the two dancers, and a cumulative "therapeutic engagement" score that rewards sustained alignment over the session — promoting relaxation, emotional expression and physical well-being the way real mirroring-based dance therapy aims to.
