Dynamic Cerebral Autoregulation: Thigh-Cuff Test

The brain keeps its own blood flow remarkably constant even as blood pressure swings — but that correction is not instantaneous, and how fast it happens is a distinct, clinically measured property called dynamic cerebral autoregulation. This simulator models the classic thigh-cuff release test: a sudden step-drop in mean arterial pressure drives an animated arteriole and a second-order damped recovery model (in the style of Tiecks' Autoregulation Index) of cerebral blood flow velocity, so you can see the difference between fast, well-damped recovery (high ARI, intact autoregulation) and slow, oscillatory or pressure-passive flow (low ARI, as seen after stroke or traumatic brain injury) — with CO₂ reactivity added as a second, independent knob on the same vessel.
