DAF Fairbanks Curve Explorer (2D)

Delayed Auditory Feedback (DAF) — replaying a speaker's own voice back a fraction of a second late — is an established fluency-shaping technique for stuttering. This 2D companion to the 3D DAF oscillator simulator shows the same phase-locked timing model from a different, more diagnostic angle: a scrolling oscilloscope of the production and delayed-feedback signals on top, and underneath, a live-computed plot of disfluency (period coefficient of variation) against feedback delay itself — the actual Fairbanks (1955) delay-response curve, recomputed in real time whenever you change gain or masking. Watch the curve's non-monotonic hump form: low disruption at very short delays, a peak around 150–220 ms, and reduced disruption again as the delay approaches a full syllable period and the feedback re-synchronizes.
