The arterial baroreflex does not just read pressure off a fixed sigmoid curve — it actively closes the loop, using afferent nerve firing to drive autonomic outflow that pulls pressure back toward a set-point over real time. This 2D simulator integrates that closed-loop control law directly: trigger a haemorrhage bolus or an orthostatic "stand up" challenge and watch mean arterial pressure trace an actual recovery trajectory along the same firing-rate sigmoid used by the 3D model, while a scrolling strip chart plots pressure and heart rate as continuous time-series. A sustained external pressor/depressor drive demonstrates the classic proportional-control signature of the real reflex: it dampens a persistent disturbance but cannot fully cancel it, settling at a predictable steady-state offset from the set-point that you can compare directly against the model's own closed-form prediction.
