This simulator visualizes the Datta–Das spin field-effect transistor, the canonical device built on the Rashba effect: electrons carrying spin polarized along the transport axis are injected from a ferromagnetic source into a two-dimensional electron gas, where the gate-tunable Rashba spin-orbit coupling makes each spin precess about an in-plane effective field as it crosses the channel. A ferromagnetic drain then acts as a spin analyzer, so the precession angle accumulated over the channel length directly sets how much current reaches the drain — tune the Rashba coefficient or channel length and watch the device switch between "on" and "off" exactly as a real spintronic transistor would.
