This simulator renders a real zinc-blende crystal lattice for the AlxGa1-xAs ternary alloy and lets you sweep the aluminium fraction x continuously from pure GaAs to pure AlAs. As x changes, the cation sites re-color between orange (Al) and blue (Ga) at the correct statistical ratio, while live readouts track the direct (Γ) and indirect (X) conduction-band minima computed from the real empirical bowing equations, the resulting bandgap and its type, the Vegard's-law lattice constant, and the photon emission wavelength. A temperature slider applies the Varshni correction, and a band-diagram strip highlights the direct-to-indirect crossover near x ≈ 0.45 — the same composition semiconductor fabs avoid when they want an efficient LED or laser material.
