Quantum Well Heterostructure — Bound-State Subband Levels

This simulator solves the exact finite-square-well Schrödinger problem behind every semiconductor quantum-well heterostructure — a thin narrow-gap layer (like GaAs) sandwiched between wide-gap barrier layers (like AlGaAs) that confines electrons along the growth direction. Adjusting the well width, the barrier band offset and the electron's in-crystal effective mass re-solves the transcendental even/odd bound-state equations in real time, rendering the conduction-band profile, every confined subband energy level, the selected subband's wavefunction, and a sampled electron probability cloud that visibly tunnels into the classically forbidden barrier region — the same physics that sets the operating wavelength of quantum-well lasers, LEDs and infrared photodetectors.
