Quantum Dot Luminescent Solar Concentrator

A luminescent solar concentrator (LSC) is a slab of quantum-dot-doped polymer that collects sunlight over a large area and funnels it, via total internal reflection, to compact photovoltaic cells glued along its edges. This simulation traces individual photons through the exact optical chain that determines a real QD-LSC's efficiency: Beer–Lambert absorption by the dots, an isotropic Stokes-shifted re-emission, a geometric escape-cone test against the host polymer's critical angle, and a distance-dependent re-absorption/quenching probability tied to the spectral overlap set by the Stokes shift. Tune the quantum-dot concentration, Stokes shift, matrix refractive index and edge photovoltaic coupling and watch the live optical budget — collected, quenched, and lost fractions — respond exactly as the underlying physics dictates.
