Distributed Bragg Reflector: Photonic Stopband Simulator

This simulation demonstrates the principles of materials science by exploring one specific, well-defined class of photonic material: a Distributed Bragg Reflector, built from alternating quarter-wave layers of two dielectrics. A real transfer-matrix (characteristic matrix) solver computes the reflectance spectrum for the stack you design, revealing how the choice of material indices, the number of layer pairs, and the incidence angle change light transmission and interaction inside the structure — from the width and strength of the photonic stopband to the fate of individual photons rendered falling onto, and reflecting from or transmitting through, the 3D stack.
