Fiber Composite Stiffness & Failure Lab

Fiber-reinforced composites get their strength from a division of labor: stiff, brittle fibers embedded in a softer, tougher matrix that binds them together and transfers load between them. This simulator renders that load transfer directly on a 3D specimen bar — a grid of fiber rods running through a translucent matrix block, gripped at both ends like a tensile-test machine. Choose a fiber material, set the fiber volume fraction, pick whether the pull runs along the fibers (longitudinal, iso-strain) or across them (transverse, iso-stress), then ramp the applied strain and watch the rule-of-mixtures equations decide the composite's stiffness and which phase cracks first.
