Dielectric particle
Chained (field-aligned)
This 2D canvas simulator models the electrorheological (Winslow) effect as a flat slice through the fluid: dielectric particles suspended between two capacitor plates, polarized by an applied electric field. Turn the field on and watch every particle's induced dipole interact through a real point-dipole force law, snapping the suspension into field-aligned chains that bridge the plates and stiffen the fluid. Adjust field strength, particle loading and carrier drag, then push the shear-test slider to probe the Bingham yield stress at which the chain structure breaks — the same physics behind ER-fluid clutches, brakes and active dampers.
