MR Fluid Valve-Mode Flow: Bingham Plastic Velocity Profile

This simulator shows the microscale flow physics behind a magnetorheological (MR) damper's macroscopic force: a cross-section of the narrow annular gap the fluid is squeezed through as the piston moves. Raising the coil current raises the fluid's Bingham-plastic yield stress, and the sim solves — numerically, every frame, from the real slit-flow integral — the pressure gradient needed to push the requested piston-driven flow rate through that gap. The result is a genuine rigid-plug-plus-shear-layer velocity profile: a flat-topped unyielded core flanked by two yielded shear zones, growing and shrinking exactly as the underlying Bingham-plastic equations predict, distinct from (and complementary to) the lumped mass-spring-damper view of the same physical device.
