Laser Shock Peening: Residual Stress Simulator (2D)

This 2D cross-section counterpart implements the same Fabbro shock-pressure physics as the 3D version: laser intensity and water confinement set a peak surface pressure, an exponential attenuation profile carries that pressure down into the metal, and every depth is compared point-by-point against the material's Hugoniot Elastic Limit to find the plastic-zone depth. The resulting compressive-to-tensile residual-stress curve is solved so its area integrates to zero, satisfying through-thickness force balance, and both the pressure and stress profiles are plotted live alongside a peened cross-section view.
