How it works

This is the flat, 2D-canvas companion to the 3D L-Systems simulator, which extrudes the same rewritten string into tapered tubes viewed with an orbiting camera. Here the identical grammar and turtle interpreter draw plain colored line segments on a flat plane — no camera, no depth, no rotation.

Axiom — the starting string the grammar rewrites from.
Rules — one production per line, written as symbol→replacement (or -> or :). Every occurrence of the symbol is replaced simultaneously on each iteration.
Iterations — how many times the rules are applied; each round can multiply string length.
Angle — turn size in degrees applied at every + and -.
Line length — pixel length of every forward-drawing step.
Turtle commands — F/G move forward and draw, A/B move forward without drawing, +/- turn right/left, [/] push/pop the turtle's position and heading to build branches.
