How it works

An IoT deployment is a fleet of low-power sensor nodes each periodically publishing readings to a central cloud hub over a shared, bandwidth-limited network. This 2D companion drives the exact same queueing model as the 3D version, viewed top-down.

Throughput = N_sensors * rate_per_sensor  (until bandwidth cap)
Load% = Throughput / Bandwidth_cap
Latency ↑ sharply as Load% → 100%  (queueing)
  • Sensor count — how many nodes ring the hub, each sending its own animated packet.
  • Transmission rate — how often each sensor reports; higher-frequency telemetry means more traffic.
  • Bandwidth cap — the hub's total packet-handling capacity; above it, packets are admitted probabilistically and the rest are dropped.

Watch packets stream from each ring node to the central hub along the scrolling load graph beneath it; push sensor count or transmission rate high enough to exceed the bandwidth cap and the load bar pins at 100%, latency spikes, and the dropped-packet counter climbs — a live picture of IoT network congestion.
