⛰️ Self-Organized Criticality

Self-organized criticality (SOC) is the tendency of certain slowly-driven, dissipative dynamical systems to evolve naturally toward a critical state — without any external fine-tuning of a parameter — in which perturbations of all sizes occur and their statistics follow a scale-free power law, the classic example being avalanches in the sandpile model.
