Behind every raked stage curtain or flown scenery drop is a counterweight fly system — a real Atwood machine where a batten and a weighted arbor sit on opposite ends of one rope, connected over headblocks and loft blocks. This simulator lets you hang a scenery load on the batten, trim the arbor with counterweight bricks, dial in how much friction the ropes and pulleys hold before anything moves, and then release the rope lock to watch gravity settle the imbalance in real time — including the runaway rise or crash a badly-trimmed pipe would actually make backstage.
