Radiosity Lighting Studio

This simulator explores architectural lighting design through a real 2D radiosity model. A rectangular room is discretized into wall patches; a window on one wall emits daylight, and every patch exchanges light with every other patch according to the classic radiosity energy-balance equation, solved iteratively until it converges. Adjusting the window's position, the daylight intensity, the surface reflectance, or the room's proportions changes how light bounces around the space — visualised directly on the walls and as a floor illuminance heat map, alongside live average, maximum, minimum and uniformity readouts, the same metric architectural lighting designers use to judge whether a room is evenly lit.
