Virtual Gallery Curator: Salon-Hang Wall Packing

This simulation puts a real curation algorithm to work inside a walkable 3D gallery. Instead of hand-placing artwork, an automatic curator packs a requested number of variable-sized paintings onto a fixed wall using Next-Fit Decreasing Height (NFDH) shelf bin-packing — sorting frames tallest-first and laying them into rows so the wall fills edge-to-edge with minimal wasted space, exactly the technique behind dense "salon-style" historical hangs and modern masonry image grids. Toggle between that packed layout and an even museum grid, adjust frame spacing and the number of pieces, and watch live wall-coverage, placed-vs-requested, and shelf-row statistics update as the algorithm re-runs. Individually aimed track spotlights light each frame with real inverse-square falloff, the way a gallery lighting designer adjusts each head to its own artwork.
