Artificial Creativity: Novelty Search Evolutionary Art

This simulation investigates the potential for AI to exhibit genuine creativity by running a real novelty-search evolutionary algorithm live in the browser. A population of genomes — each a short vector of numbers decoded into a unique 3D parametric artwork — evolves generation by generation. Instead of judging each artwork only by a fixed "quality" score, the algorithm also measures how different it is from everything already produced, tracked in a growing archive of past shapes. An exploration-vs-exploitation slider lets you experiment with different creative prompts and parameters, from purely aesthetic selection to purely novelty-driven divergence, and watch how an AI system generates novel ideas and artistic expressions as a direct, observable consequence of that trade-off.
