Synchronized Swimming: Buoyancy, Drag & Team Coherence

This simulation demonstrates the principles of fluid dynamics as a ring of synchronized swimmers performs a shared sculling routine on the water's surface. Each athlete is modelled as a driven, damped harmonic oscillator — buoyancy supplies the restoring force, water drag supplies the damping, and a shared choreography tempo drives every swimmer toward the same rhythm. A Kuramoto-style coherence score tracks how well the team stays in phase as coordination noise — the real-world challenge of fatigue, missed cues, and individual timing drift — pulls swimmers away from perfect unison, while the buoyancy and drag sliders reveal how close the routine sits to a dangerous resonance spike.
