Couette-Poiseuille Channel Flow

This simulator visualises how a real fluid responds when it is squeezed between two plates and pushed by two different forces at once: a moving wall dragging it along by viscous shear, and a pressure gradient shoving it end to end. Dragging the top-plate-velocity and pressure-gradient sliders morphs the classic linear Couette profile into the classic parabolic Poiseuille profile and every combined shape in between, while thousands of colour-coded tracer particles stream through a 3D channel at exactly the local velocity u(y) the Navier-Stokes solution predicts. Live readouts track the mean velocity, the channel Reynolds number, the wall shear stress at both plates and the volumetric flow rate, and a fluid-preset row lets you feel how honey, motor oil, water and air each reshape the same pressure and drag into very different flows.
