Environmental Water Quality Simulation

This simulation models how pollution sources affect a real river reach and the aquatic ecosystem downstream. An industrial outfall mixes its effluent into the river by mass balance, a stretch of farmland adds a steady diffuse nitrate load, and the water self-purifies as it travels — sediment settling and microbial breakdown both acting as first-order decay. A composite Water Quality Index, computed live from turbidity and nitrate at a downstream monitoring station, drives a visible fish population and algae bloom so you can see the ecological consequence of every slider, not just a number.
