This simulator models a classroom of 24 students whose engagement is driven by two competing forces: intrinsic motivation and an extrinsic reward drive, following Self-Determination Theory. Adjust the reward magnitude, switch between a fixed and a variable reinforcement schedule, and slide the framing control from "controlling" toward "informational" to watch the overjustification effect play out in real time — large, controlling rewards boost short-term engagement but quietly erode the intrinsic motivation underneath, so when you remove the rewards a classroom driven this way collapses far faster than one built on autonomy-supportive framing.
