🌦 Building a Climate-Resilient Apiary

An interactive 3D apiary where you dial up heat, drought and storm wind independently, then toggle real adaptation measures — shade and windbreak plantings, hive strapping — to see how much stress each one absorbs.

🔬 What It Demonstrates

Heat drives bearding and reduced foraging, drought browns forage ground and dries the water source, and wind makes an unsecured hive stack visibly lean — while shade, windbreaks and anchoring measurably cut the "effective" stress a colony feels.

🎮 How to Use

Move the heat, drought and wind sliders to build a stress scenario, then switch on the shade/windbreak and hive-anchoring toggles to see the colony stress index drop and the scene visibly calm down.

💡 Did You Know?

A well-placed windbreak hedgerow can cut wind speed at hive level by 50% or more for a distance of several times its own height — far more effective, and gentler on airflow, than a solid fence.
