Reliability Block Diagram: Redundancy Allocation

Systems engineers rarely design a single point of failure — they compose subsystems into a chain and decide, stage by stage, how much parallel redundancy to buy under a fixed cost, mass or power budget. This simulator renders that chain as a real 3D reliability block diagram: each stage is a bank of components in parallel, stages combine in series, and every unit follows an exponential failure model with a shared failure rate. Adjust λ, per-unit cost and the budget cap, add or remove redundant units per stage, and watch the analytic system reliability curve R(t), the estimated MTBF and the cost-vs-budget readout respond immediately — then run a Monte Carlo failure trial to see one concrete realization of which units survive and which fail.
