Concurrent Engineering Overlap Simulator

Product development rarely runs one phase at a time in the real world — teams overlap Design and Test to hit deadlines, at the cost of rework when downstream work is built on upstream information that hasn't finished maturing. This simulator models that trade-off with the classic evolution/sensitivity framework from concurrent-engineering research: a Design track and a Test track laid out in 3D, an overlap window highlighting how early Test starts, and a computed rework penalty driven by how fast Design's information matures versus how sensitive Test is to late changes. Four controls — overlap percentage, design maturity rate, downstream sensitivity, and coordination overhead — feed live readouts for total lead time, rework hours, time saved versus a fully sequential process, and estimated rework iterations.
