Fiber Bragg Grating Catheter Force Sensor — 2D Spectrum View

Real contact-force catheters used in cardiac ablation sense how hard the tip is pressed against tissue using three fiber Bragg gratings bonded 120° apart near the tip, with nothing electrical anywhere near the patient's heart. This 2D companion view puts the sensor's actual optical output front and center: a live reflected-spectrum plot shows the three grating peaks — pre-tuned to 1548, 1550 and 1552 nm — sliding as your chosen contact force, contact angle, approach azimuth and temperature drift change the strain each fiber sees, and a calibration curve sweeps force to show the underlying linear physics the closed-form force reconstruction depends on. The same beam-bending model, photoelastic/thermo-optic strain-to-wavelength conversion, and common-mode/differential-mode decomposition drive both this view and the 3D catheter simulator.
