This simulator models a row of point-absorber wave energy converters — the same class of device as real heaving-buoy machines — harvesting power from ocean swell using single-degree-of-freedom mass-spring-damper physics with a controllable power-take-off (PTO) damping coefficient. As the buoys extract energy, each successive row sees a smaller wave under real power-flux conservation from linear wave theory, and the attenuated wave that finally reaches the shore is used to drive an illustrative coastal-ecology status indicator, showing why wave-farm environmental assessments care about how much of the incoming swell's energy reaches the nearshore zone.
