Supercritical CO2 Brayton Cycle

A closed-loop supercritical-CO2 (sCO2) Brayton power cycle rendered in 3D: a compressor, a two-pass recuperator, a heater, a turbine and a cooler arranged as a flowing loop, with particles colored by local temperature. The physics is real — CO2 density at the compressor inlet is solved live from the Peng–Robinson equation of state, the standard cubic equation of state used to model real-gas behavior near a critical point, so you can watch compression work and cycle efficiency respond as the compressor-inlet temperature is pushed closer to or further from the CO2 critical point at 31.1 °C / 7.38 MPa.
